I have been getting mixed messages about coming off the pill and trying to concieve. Some people say your chances are less and others say your more fertile??

From my own personal experience i have found that you are more fertile. I stopped taking my pill and the next month i was pregnant. I think it depends on the person.

I have 15 year old fraternal twins…….. my doctor (then) said that when you go off the pill it takes your body time to regulate itself again………sometimes it takes months to start ovulating and sometimes it happens right away……….and sometimes while your body is adjusting.you release more than one egg at a time…….. he believes it was how I got my twins.

also a friend of mine who has been for ivf was told to take pill to increase chances but not sure if its a certain type of pill.

Well Ive been off the pill since 11/2007 and TTC and no luck yet! Everyone is different I guess. I have a friend who a month after getting off the pill she conceived and another one that took 6 months. So it varies, but good luck to you!!!

Had one friend, first month pregnant after being off the pills, another friend, it took 2 years, we've been ttc for 4 months and still nothing….so basically, it varies.
Medically, I've never heard that you're more fertile once you're off the pill….makes no sense to me either…you ovulate when you ovulate with basically the same chance every month of getting pregnant. If you were more likely to get pregnant, I would think the fertility drs. would be telling women to go on and off the bc pill (which to my knowledge, they don't do).

It really depends on the person. Many women will experience a brief period of infertility lasting up to 6 months. Others, myself included, are super fertile immediately after coming off the pill. It depends on a lot of things. Women who had various menstrual problems (irregularity, PCOS, etc.) may get a very short window of increased fertility after discontinuing the pill. If you took the pill for only a short period of time (a month or two), it's likely that your hormones will be out of whack and you may have irregular cycles for a while. Start charting your BBTs and using OPKs every day (get them online they're cheaper) after your period is over because you don't when or if you're going to ovulate. That's what I did and conceived two weeks after discontinuing the pill that I had been taking for 3 years. Good luck!

I dont think you are more fertile but as soon as you do stop taking the pill you could become pregnant, when I came off the pill it took me about 5 months to become pregnant!!!

hi i concieved 1 month after stopping the pill on my second child and 2 months after stopping the pill on my third child and there is four years between each of my three children and id go as far as to say you are most fertile 15 days after your period starts this method worked for me GOOD LUCK

Both of my kids were conceived the 1st month of coming of the pill. Pure luck maybe but it can happen : )
