i keep reading questions about this clomid, i havent clue what it is can someone please tell …. please dont think im stupid.

Answer:
I never knew what clomid was until I was prescribed it!

Clomid works at adjusting your hormones to get you to ovulate more regularly to help increase your chances of conceiving. My OBGYN stated to kind of think of it as the opposite of birth control generally, not specifically because they obviously work differently but generally speaking it is the opposite.

Answer:
It a low cost fertility drug that can be prescribed by a gyn or an RE. I encourages ovulation is those who don't ovulate regularly and increases the quantity of the egg that's released for those who do ovulate. It can be started during cycle day 1 through 5 (usually prescribe to begin on cycle day 3 or 5) and is taken for 5 days.

Physicians usually begin with the low dosage of 50 mg and try that protocol for 2 months. If no pregnancy occurs, he/she will up the dosage to 100mg and try that for 2 months. If that doesn't work, you are then given 150 mg for 2 months. Dosages above 150 mg are rarely used due to high risk of causing poor cm and poor lining.

Pregnancy seen after 6 months of treatment are rare however, the rates of pregnancy go back to normal if a month of no clomid (rest cycle) is done before restarting treatment starting again at the 50 mg dosage. Clomid's bad effects can linger in the body (mostly the low estrogen which causes the poor lining) By taking a break from clomid after 6 months, it clean the slate so to speak.

It's also given to treat PCOS. I'm not aware of the treatment plan with PCOS and clomid just that it has aided in pregnancy for those who have it.
