Evaporation Line….?

Author: admin

I did 3 tests within the 2 weeks after missing my period and all were negative, however a couple of days ago (i'm now almost 4 weeks late) i noticed that there was an extremely faint red line but it was quite a bit away from the control line. you could only really see it properly when held up to the light.

Is this an evaporation line? Or positive reading?

and if it was only an evaporation line anyone know of any reasons why i could be 4 weeks late for my period, someone mentioned having an sti which has really worried me, although i doubt it very much. But anyone had an sti which made them miss there usually regualr periods?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:
How long did it take for that red line to appear? If it was after the recommended time then it could be an evap line. But if it was in the time frame and you could see it, even up to a light, had color, then it could be a positive.

If it was an evap line and you're late, could just be due to stress, your cycle evening itself out, hormone imbalance. There's so many things.

I would test again now and again in another week if you're still late. I'm 16 days late, testing negative. But not losing hope because my first tested positive finally when I was three months.

Good luck!

It sounds like an evaporation line to me, or possibly where the dye has developed in another part of the test.

There is only ONE antibody strip on a pregnancy test. That is what will change colour if you are pregnant. If you see any other colour anywhere else, that’s not a positive result.

Was the faint line where it should be - i.e. is it where the picture on the box shows that a line should be? If not, it isn't a positive.

If you are not sure where the line should be or want to compare it to positive tests, go to www.fertilityfriend.com and look at their hpt gallery.

Personally, I'd go and see a physician, they will probably do a blood test for hcg, at least you would know for sure!

An evaporation line would have no colour to it! Take a look at www.fertility friend.com/ they have some photos of negative and positive tests, as do www.peeonastick.com./

Good luck!

Hee hee - the good old evap lines! I’m currently due to have a baby after months of TTC! And the amount of times i held my test sticks up to the light to try and see the line! As soon as I got the positive one - I knew i had wasted so much time and money on the others - lol!

I know it is really hard but if it doesnt come up in the time scale - throw it away and wait!! And no routing about in the waste bin an hour later !Oh yes - been there - done that!!

AND VERY GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Answer:
You should always disregard any results that show up after the recommended time. I'd state it was probably just an evaporation line, especially if the other two tests were negative.
