I’ve just read in a book on conceiving that vaginal douching after your period decreases your chances of conceiving by half because it messes with the levels of normal bacteria in your vagina and want to know what this is. I think douche in french means showering but is vaginal douching when you squeeze water in and out?

Thanks and apologies for the question.

A pretty good definition is given above. Your right about what you've heard - it isn't a good idea at all! Some have claimed in the past that douching can reduce or eliminate any “odours” down below, as others have done this before having intercourse whilst still on their period to reduce the “mess”. Another reason I've come across is women wishing to modify the vaginal environment in order to try to accomplish a baby of a certain sex (as female and male sperm are stated to thrive in different conditions: acid and alkaline). Personally, I wouldn't douche at all. There are some proven links with nasty infections - really not worth the risk!

Answer:
There's a kit they sell with some kind of cleaning solution for your hooha. You squirt it up and it's supposed to make it fresh. It's not suggested anymore because it can change the pH and environment of your vagina- which can make it a superior place for yeast and bacteria to grow. Basically, your vagina can clean itself just fine and has normal bacteria and pH levels in it for a reason, so we shouldn't mess with it.

Answer:
The word “douche” means to wash or soak in French. Douching is washing or cleaning out the vagina (also called the birth canal) with water or other mixtures of fluids. Usually douches are prepackaged mixes of water and vinegar, baking soda, or iodine. Women can buy these products at drug and grocery stores. The mixtures usually come in a bottle and can be squirted into the vagina through a tube or nozzle.

Answer:
Douching is rinsing out your vaginal passage with a liquid. It used to be that you could buy a douching kit from your chemist, but don't know if this is the case. There is no need to douche for hygiene reasons anymore. It can actually end up giving you an infection.

Answer:
YUP…you got it right….not only is it disgusting but your body produces stuff that keeps infections out and when you douche you get rid of those protectors.
