Why do tampons cause me so much pain? I insert them correctly and it's in all the way but it just hurts me. Sometimes it isnt so bad but its always uncomfortable. Inserting them hurts although I’m perfectly relaxed. I have the ability to hardly sit down with them in and I walk funny. I’ve to use them right now because I dont have any sanitary towels left. Am i doing something wrong or are they just not for everyone? Also the first time i used one i got a blinding pain for a few seconds, and couldnt continue, but the next time i tried it wasnt quite so bad, but that was a few years ago and they still hurt me! help?

I just want to reassure you at this point this is normal not every woman feels comfortable with tampons so you have nothing to worry about there. What i would do is stick to using sanitary pads why dont you go and get some you will be much more comfortable then. Don't feel under pressure to use tampons either its all about the personal preference for the woman and what your most comfortable at there so not for everyone. Just stick to what your comfortable, if you’re worried about anything a chat to your mom could help or maybe a close female relative - even a chat to your GP may help to put your mind at rest on this issue. But i can assure you this is perfectly normal there not for everyone.

I would also advocate to use sanitary pads. If you find tampons uncomfortable, then that just means they're not for you. It sounds like you are doing everything right, but your body is just not used to them. Use pads for now and if you feel comfortable to try tampons later on, then you can.

I go along with what the others have said about switching to the sanitary towels. I’ve another point of view which could be a reason the tampons are giving you problems. Try switching to a different brand and use the lightest ones you can find. You might be sensitive/allergic to the ones you’re using.

It could be because you are not sexually active and are still a virgin therefore you are ultra sensitive. I would suggest using the sport pads for comfort. My sister uses those and likes them from the tampon. sorry if this didn't help

i find those new tampax ones with the skirt really uncomfortable but am fine with just ordinary style tampons

go to the chemist and buy sanitary towels and stop using tampons, i cant use tampons either for the same reason i think its quite common not feeling comfy with them

I think some of that’s due to dryness. I can't wear them either and I'm 40! Just don't use them.
